Athletics (Track & Field)
Season: Spring (April–May)

Special Olympics Athletics is a great introduction to exercise, socialization and competition. Athletics events include walking, running and various field events. Each athlete will partcipate according to his or her level of ability.
Athletes may participate in the Athletics Area Meet, which is held in Columbus in early May. A number of athletes may also have the opportunity to spend a fun filled weekend competing in the Summer Games in Terre Haute, June 5-7th 2009.
Practice Schedule: Sundays, 1-3 p.m.

Bowling
Season: Fall, Winter & Spring
Bowling offers athletes the opportunity to strengthen and develop bowling skills while building lasting friendships. Bowling is for athletes of every skill level and experience.
Bowling styles include singles, doubles, traditional four-athlete team, and ramp.
Athletes have many opportunities to compete. Area bowling tournament will be held November (TBA), in Terre Haute. State tournament is December 6-7, 2008, at Woodland Bowl in Indianapolis (individual and ramp bowling) and at the Summer Games in June 5-7th, 2009 at Terre Haute (doubles, ramp bowling).
Practice Schedule: Wednesdays, at 6:00 pm and Sundays, at 1:15 p.m.

Basketball
Season: Fall & Winter
Basketball is an opportunity for athletes of all ability levels to learn basketball skills, develop sportsmanship, and compete in a fun and supportive environment. Athletes may play on the Fundamentals Team (slower paced), the Mid-Level Team, or the High Skill Team (fast-paced).
Athletes will have the opportunity to participate in sectional tournaments and the state tournament in March.

Equestrian
Season: Year-round
PALS provides quality, safe, educational and therapeutic horseback riding experiences for athletes.
Athletes have the opportunity to participate in the annual PALS Fun Show, and State Special Olympics Equestrian events Saturday, September 6th at the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds and Conference Complex (Daville, IN).

Golf
Season: Summer
Special Olympics Golf is a unified sport (equal number of athletes and volunteers). Coaches will demonstrate and assist athletes in using proper golf techniques and etiquette. Special Olympic athletes will be paired with a partner of their choice or a community volunteer.
Golf teams may participate in the Golf Area Competition Satuday, July 26th, 2008 location TBA and in State Competition Saturday, August 16-17th, 2008, at the South Grove Golf Course in Indianapolis.
Practice Schedule: Wednesdays, 6 pm

Softball
Season: Summer (June–August)
Special Olympics Softball will help athletes learn softball skills and techniques. Two levels of softball are offered:
- Sluggers (Designated Pitcher Division): Focuses on basic skill development, moderate pace of play
- Blasters (Traditional Division): Focuses on advanced skill development, and faster pace of play
Athletes may participate in the Special Olympics State Softball Tournament Saturday, August 16-17th 2008, at the Midwest Sports Complex in Indianapolis.
Practice Schedule:
Sluggers : Sundays, - 2:00-4:00 p.m. Blasters: Mondays, - 5:30-7:30 p.m.
